The Art of Popping the Question
Fandom: Legend of Korra
Title: The Art of Popping the Question
Character(s) or Pairing(s): Korra, Bolin, Borra, hints of Irosami.
Warnings: Totally shameless fluff, and lots of it.
Summary: Korra is tired of waiting for Bolin to ask her to marry him, and takes matters into her own hands.
Korra knew she wasn’t the most patient person, but all things considered she had done pretty well lately. It had been four years since she and Bolin had started dating, eighteen months since they moved in together and five long, long months since Bolin had started dropping very big hints about wanting to get married.
It didn’t seem so out of place at first, when he squeezed her hand so tightly during Asami and General Iroh’s wedding, when he badgered her into trying to catch the bouquet and seemed unusually happy when she succeeded. “That means you’re getting married next,” he teased, poking her in the ribs. “Got anyone special in mind?”
All that might have just been a passing fancy, just a joke, but it didn’t stop there. He would sigh wistfully when they passed by a wedding in progress or a newly married couple. He would ask out of the blue what she thought about marriage in general, or how she’d want her hypothetical wedding to go. He decided to tell her one day, for no apparent reason, about the ancient earthbender tradition of forging an engagement ring yourself for your partner by bending precious stones, and she told him about the Water Tribe custom of carving betrothal necklaces. He seemed to be gearing up to finally pop the question, and Korra had been expecting him to get down on one knee for months…but he never did. What exactly was he waiting for? He had made it pretty damn clear that he had marriage on the brain, so what was the hold up? It was downright maddening, and Korra was fed up.
Well, like she always said, if you wanted a job done you just had to do it yourself!
D’awwing forever. I almost expected him to pull out a necklace at the end though!

Fandom: The Legend of Korra
Pairing: Bolin/ Korra
Summary: “After all she’s been through, she’s going to need you, Mako.” Bolin was watching her, listening. And he knew. Korra would need someone too.
mmmm yes. lovely. hot. delicious. *fans self*
Days Like These
Days like these were too perfect for comfort, Korra decided with a nod.
Yes, the sun was out shining, birds were chirping, Oogi was happily flying through the air with various ring-tailed flying lemurs, Ikki and Jinora were giggling happily about some guy in Ikki’s class at school, and Meelo was NOT leaving miscellaneous “presents” in the bushes.
The day was too perfect.
And Korra was miserable.
Yesterday she had discovered the true wonders of sitting in bed, devouring ice cream by the carton while listening to radio dramas on the radio she “borrowed” from the White Lotus guards.
They had other radios, Korra had thought to herself, they can use those.
So she sat in her bed, gobbling ice cream like there was no tomorrow, and crying her heart out.
SCREAM. JOYFUL SCREAMING.
I want to leave a heartfelt and thorough review to reward the author of this…but I cant.
Because I cant think above the sound of my screaming fangirly heart.
LOST ABILITY TO CAN, OMG
➸ Fangirl of Catherine the Great: The Great Big Ol' Headcanon Post About How Bolin Is Going To Be A Cop And Basically Turn Into Republic City's Dick...
I saw some posts saying that he’s too goofy to be a cop, but come on! He can still be a cop! He’ll just be a…lovably inept one.
But really, he’s pretty decent at his job. He eventually gets training in metal bending (from Lin) and traditional earth bending (
from his Avatar wifey) and while he’s…
Yes. perfect. approve.
Bolin, your face is so precious.
let me kiss eet
also note the soakingwet!bolin. draw your own conclusions.
Bolin Headcanon: Baking
Mako might be a whizz with a wok and an open flame, but bolin has a few culinary tricks of his own.
It turns out; Bolin made that cupcake he gave Korra himself. Something just clicks between Bolin and baked goods, possibly something in the way his strong earthbending hands handle the dough, or his precision strikes in the arena translating to precision icing skills in the kitchen.
Even after dedicating most of his time towards pro-bending, Bolin is able to scoop up occasional shifts at his old job at the Maple Plum Bakery down off Omashu Avenue. Shin Tao worked him hard; lifting hundred pound sacks of flour, juggling racks of red hot Fire Flake brownies, churning cream for Shin’s not-really-that-secret recipie whipped creme puffs.
But Shin paid him reasonably, better than what the construction companies would pay an off-the-streets earthbender, and three times less dangerous. He even let Bolin take a crack at decorating cupcakes; Shin recognizing Bolin’s minor talent for the job. Best yet, working at the bakery meant that Bolin got first dibs on all the unsellable day old bread.
In another life, perhaps if the brothers hadn’t gotten hit so badly by the pro-bending bug, Bolin might have been willing to settle into the job for good. As it was though, Shin had three formal apprentices of his own, each vying to be named the heir to the bakery, all of whom saw Bolin as a potential rival.
Bolin, never one to cause trouble where it wasn’t due, tried to limit his trips to Omashu avenue to less than once a month. he allowed himself more if a holiday was coming up, like Avatar Day or The Founder’s Festival and he could count on being welcomed to help with the rush jobs.
And I am looking up what methods of birth control existed and/or were common in the 1920s.

LoK; “A Mothers Comfort”
Summary: Tenzin and Lin recently ended things, and Lin breaks the news to her mother.

“And then, he just turned around and left my apartment. Not even a goodbye! Just that stupid, ‘I’m sorry, Lin.’”
Toph stroked her daughters beautiful long hair. Lin had come crying to her mothers home in the late hours of the night. Toph immediantly took her only daughter into her arms and led her to the couch. Lin was blubbering beyond ridiculously, and all Toph could do was just sit there with her daughters head on her lap, and stroke her hair comfortingly.
“He left me for that Pema girl, I know it,” Lin spat bitterly. Toph sighed. She was glad she was blind; she wasn’t sure how she’d take it if she saw her daughters distraught and hurt face. She could most definantly feel her heartbeating erratically.
the stand out moment for me was the idea that toph got zuko himself to show up after Lin got the scars on her face. I now desperately want to read that scene. I want me some older!advice-dispensing!compassionate!iroh reborn!zuko.
Lost and Found
Fandom: Legend of Korra
Title: Lost and Found
Character(s) or Pairing(s): Bolin, Pabu, Mako
Warnings: Fluff and some bittersweetness
Summary: Bolin knows what it’s like to be alone. That’s why he can’t walk away when he finds an abandoned baby fire ferret in an alley.
Bolin thought it was a toy, at first. It looked like just a lump of dirty, light tan fuzz, lying perfectly still between two trashcans. It was almost the same color as Pabu, the toy platypus bear he used to sleep with when he was a baby. He would be turning eight in a few weeks and was most certainly not a baby anymore; he could sleep without a stuffed animal just fine, thank you very much, but some little part of him missed the comfort that Pabu used to bring him. He reached out towards it, wondering if Mako would say that it was too dirty to keep, when the thing suddenly moved.
The surprise very nearly made Bolin trip over into a stack of boxes behind him. The ball of fuzz gave another little twitch, and then two beady black eyes and a tiny black nose appeared.
“Oh,” Bolin said quietly as the little animal uncurled itself from the ball it had been wrapped up in. “I didn’t know you were real. Sorry.”
The animal just stared at him, blinking sleepily. Even unfurled, it was still tiny.
“You’re awfully little,” Bolin continued, crouching down to get a better look. “Are you old enough to be away from your mama? Where is she?” He stretched out his fingers carefully, like Mako showed him to do with stray animals, and grinned in delight when the little thing gave his hand a sniff and then a cautious lick.
I’ve somehow managed to find alot of ‘how bolin found pabu’ fics and every single one of them hits me right in the feels.
Fuck Inking. And shading. Everything is borra and nothing hurts.
